Literacy Month

During literacy month students were able to participate in a multitude of activites varying from:  D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read), partner reading, parents coming into read to the class (a very special thanks to Mr. Arama and Mr. Goloborodsky for participating) and a visit from an author who specializes in Jewish children’s books . DEAR is a period of time during the day when students read independently for about 30 minutes.

We also celebrated Dr. Seuss’ Birthday. All of the students from K-3^rd made various Dr. Seuss themed hats (third grade made Thing 1 and Thing 2 hats) in preparation for a special assembly led by Morah Kathy. During the assembly Morah Kathy read aloud several Dr. Seuss favorites.

The 100th Day of School

In order to prepare for the 100^th Day of School, the class decorated hats that were to be worn at the assembly. Our class gathered with Kindergarten through Second Grade for an assembly that was led by Morah Kathy. During the assembly the students recited a poem about all things 100. The students all did 100: jumping jacks, jumps, hops etc.

Following the assembly, we went back to our classroom and the students were able to choose a craft to do ranging from: pasta necklaces, pasta popsicle stick picture frames or pasta collage (all of these crafts needed to have 100 pieces of pasta).

Realistic Fiction Writing Pieces

The students have finished their realistic fiction stories after going through the entire writing process. Below they are working on the editing and publishing phases of the writing process.
